Welcome to the Berlin High School Counseling Department's website!
The School Counseling Department of Berlin High School is committed to delivering lessons from a Comprehensive School Counseling Curriculum structured to anticipate and nurture the academic, career, and personal/social growth of all students as they pass through different developmental stages in their high school career. In addition to individual counseling, school counselors assist students in their school transition and adjustment, in goal-setting and academic achievement, in self-awareness, in decision-making and problem solving, and with post-secondary career and college planning. The mission of the School Counseling Department is to assist students in maximizing their educational and personal development and self-fulfillment. To accomplish this end, the School Counseling Department works with the entire educational community in a proactive manner providing services for students, parents, and instructional staff. Specific School Counseling programs are made available and presented to all parents of students in grades 9-12, focusing on students’ developmental educational issues. These programs and services make up a composite Student Success Plan for each student in the high school.
School counseling programs also include special parent programs for all classes in order to encourage parents
in educational and vocational planning. Individual counselor/student conferences are an important part of the
Comprehensive School Counseling program. Conferences with students and/or parents focus on adjustment issues, academic planning and progress, career and vocational planning. Counselors place a high priority on helping students with problems as they arise, whether they are academic, social/personal, or vocational.
The Berlin School Counseling Department has provided a wealth of information in this website to help you and your student as we work together to navigate a successful four-year academic, personal/social, and career plan to prepare your student for a world beyond Berlin High School!
