Each student that enters Berlin High School in Grade 9 is assigned a counselor to work with them individually for their four years in high school. The School Counselors at Berlin High School work with students individually and in groups to deliver lessons from a Comprehensive School Counseling Curriculum during an Advisory period. These lessons touch upon academic, career, and personal/social domains. Students can make appointments to see their counselor during a study hall, before or after school, or for any concerning issues. Some of the concerns that are addressed with Berlin's School Counselors are:
- Difficulties with school subjects/course changes/course selection
- Self-evaluation of abilities
- Interests - academically and co-curricularly
- Personal/Academic Strengths and areas for improvement
- Vocational and/or career planning
- Post-secondary education planning
- Part-time/Full-time employment
- Personal/Social/Emotional problems
