Protocol for Students Registering for UConn Early College Experience Courses
In March, as students begin the scheduling process for the next school year, they may either be recommended for or they may elect to sign up for one or more of the UConn Early College Experience Courses offered at Berlin High School. Once the course requests are established and the list of students per UConn ECE course are available, the School Counseling Department Chair/UConn ECE Site Coordinator sends a letter to parents of students enrolled in a UConn ECE course inviting them to an information and registration evening in order to pick up UConn ECE applications and registration materials; this evening meeting generally takes place in May. This evening information session addresses course credit both at Berlin HS and UConn, transcripts, course rigor, fees, and add/drop regulations.

Registration Guidelines
- All UConn ECE courses are reserved for high school juniors and seniors; sophomores taking AP/UConn Biology are also eligible.
- All registration forms need to be returned to the School Counseling Department Chair/Site Coordinator.
- All forms must be in to the School Counseling Department Chair/Site Coordinator by June 6th.
- Payment is not due at the time the registration form is due.
- Courses are $25 per credit plus an additional $15 University Resource fee has been added to the price of the course.
- Students who take part in the Government Subsidized Free/Reduced Lunch Program are eligible for a program fee waiver.
- It is important to put the student’s Social Security Number on the registration form since this becomes the university’s main qualifying identifier for each student.
- Additional information can be found at ece.uconn.edu/hsstudents.
- An Add/Drop period is designated from the start of the new school year until approximately Sept. 15th. Forms to either add or drop UConn ECE courses must be received by the university at this time. Students who chose to drop a course after this time frame must fill out a Withdrawal Audit form and they will still be responsible for the payment of the course.
