What is UConn Early College Experience?
UConn Early College Experience (ECE) is a dual enrollment program that allows motivated high school students to take UConn courses at their high schools for both high school and college credit. Additionally, this program provides students the opportunity to preview college work, build confidence in their readiness for college, and earn college credits that provide both an academic and a financial head-start on a college degree (courses are typically taken in grades 11 and/or 12, with the exception of Biology which can be taken in grade 10). Every course taken through UConn ECE is equivalent to the same course at the University of Connecticut.
Berlin High School instructors are educated and certified through the University of Connecticut and then serve as adjunct faculty members to teach UConn ECE courses at Berlin High School. The UConn ECE faculty fosters independent learning, creativity and critical thinking – all important for success in college.
Established in 1955, UConn Early College Experience is the nation's longest running dual enrollment program and is nationally accredited by The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).
