Each student at Berlin High School is assigned a School Counselor who will follow and assist them in their academic, personal/social, and career planning for their four years in high school. At the start of each academic year, School Counselors open by first meeting in groups with each grade to discuss their particular grade's yearly agenda. We call this our "Yearly Agenda Meetings". This meeting gives our students a clear-cut understanding of what activities they will complete with their School Counselor, what is expected of them for that particular year in terms of the college planning process, and it provides students with a timeline of events.
Each agenda also lists the focus for the year. The School Counseling curriculum is primarily delivered during Advisory. Advisory is one period per week in which the entire student body is assigned a location and cooperating teacher or staff member who oversees their small group. School Counselors use this period to run the majority of their programs and lessons.
The Berlin High School Counseling curriculum is developed and delivered in accordance with the
*Connecticut Comprehensive School Counseling curriculum model.
We highly encourage parents to review their student's Grade Agenda and contact his/her School Counselor with any questions pertaining to the timeline.
