As students begin the College Application process in their senior year, one of the components that factor into the college admission process is college entrance testing. Although there are more schools that are becoming "test optional" there are still many that require a student to take the SAT or the ACT.
Generally, students take either of these test starting in the spring of their junior year and then again in the fall of their senior year. Berlin High School offers an administration of the SAT five times through out the school year; October, November, December, May, and June, and one administration of the ACT in April.
A precursor to the SATs is the administration of the PSATs which takes place in October of every school year and this is open to all sophomores and juniors, however, scholarship eligibility is only counted during the junior year.
It should be noted that although the SAT is now divided into three components; Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing, most colleges and universities focus on the Critical Reading and Mathematics.
Junior and Senior students can register for the SATs by going to sat.collegeboard.org and setting up and account. Students can go to www.actstudent.org to set up an account and register for the ACT. Additional information can be found in the school counseling office. Berlin High School's school code: 070020
